Visit Comfort TX Receives $2,000 Grant from Texas Hill Country Trail Region

Comfort, Texas — August 19, 2026COMFORT, Texas — Visit Comfort TX (VCTX) has received a $2,000 grant from the Texas Hill Country Trail Region to support its work promoting Comfort and rural Kendall County as a visitor destination rooted in history, nature, small business, and authentic Hill Country character.

Representatives from the Texas Hill Country Trail Region will present the check on Tuesday, August 18, during the Visit Comfort TX Partner Meeting at the Comfort Public Library.

The grant will help advance VCTX’s destination marketing efforts, including visitor-facing content, cultural storytelling, and regional promotion designed to encourage travelers to explore Comfort’s historic downtown, local businesses, parks, wineries, lodging, restaurants, and rural Hill Country experiences.

“Visit Comfort TX began as a grassroots effort by local business owners and volunteers who wanted to bring renewed energy to Comfort,” said Missy Ivankovich, President of Visit Comfort TX. “This grant from the Texas Hill Country Trail Region recognizes the importance of our work and helps us continue building a thoughtful, coordinated approach to tourism that supports our small businesses while preserving the character of our town.”

The Texas Hill Country Trail Region works to promote heritage tourism, cultural preservation, and economic development across the Texas Hill Country. The organization’s support reflects Comfort’s growing role as a destination for travelers seeking authentic small-town experiences, historic places, local makers, outdoor recreation, and the slower pace of rural Texas.

“Comfort represents so much of what makes the Texas Hill Country special — history, hospitality, natural beauty, and a strong sense of place,” said Joanne Crawford, CTE, Executive Director of the Texas Hill Country Trail Region. “We are pleased to support Visit Comfort TX as they strengthen visitor outreach, tell the community’s story, and help connect travelers with the people, places, and experiences that make Comfort unique.”

Visit Comfort TX was formally established as a destination marketing organization in October 2025 after beginning as a grassroots downtown promotion effort in 2024. Since its founding, VCTX has grown rapidly, drawing support from local businesses, community organizations, individual donors, and regional partners.

VCTX promotes Comfort as a slow tourism destination — walkable, unhurried, and rich with authentic Hill Country character. The organization’s work focuses on building Comfort’s digital brand, developing visitor-facing content, supporting wayfinding and visitor infrastructure, and providing coordinated promotion for local entrepreneurs.

“Comfort’s strength is not scale. It is integrity,” Ivankovich said. “Our goal is to help Comfort grow on its own terms — preservation-first, community-centered, and connected to the small businesses and cultural assets that make this town worth visiting.”
